Trivik Verma is an Assistant Professor at the faculty of Technology, Policy and Management at Delft University of Technology. I co-lead the Centre for Urban Science & Policy in the department of Multi-Actor Systems. My research focusses on tackling challenges of urbanisation in an equitable and just manner. I am particularly interested in understanding the processes that drive and shape urbanization and reproduce inequalities. I focus on using methods in spatial data science, complex network analyses and participatory mapping to develop computational and mixed methods for advancing the theories and practices of urban science. I am also the director of the faculty AI Lab where I developed a community of scholars around critical AI research and education. I have founded the Citizens Collective which is a platform for science, art, policy and journalism showcasing rigour, authenticity and progressive values for city making. Outside of being an academic, I instruct on remote expeditions for National Geographic and Smithsonian where high school students have the opportunity to learn about climate change, conservation, anthropology, engineering and policy. Previously, I helped build a media and technology startup called The Outdoor Journal dedicated to authentic journalism for protecting the outdoors and the planet.
